ELON, N.C. - A probation violation hearing for the woman accused in a hit-and-run accident involving an Elon student earlier this month has been rescheduled for Oct. 14, according to the Burlington Times-News.
Robin Stanfield Ragsdale, 35, appeared in Superior Court on Thursday morning for a probation violation hearing regarding an an alleged accident involving an Elon student on Sept. 16. Ragsdale was previously convicted in 2008 for killing four people in an auto accident.
If convicted, the woman could face up to four years in prison.
Toorialey Fazly, 26, was riding his bike east on West Labanon Avenue near Lee Street around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck from behind by a car. He was thrown from the bike and was found lying next to the road by another student who called 911, according to police. Fazly is an exchange student from Afghanistan.
Eyewitness Emily Wappes told police she saw an older-model black sedan hit Fazly. The witness said she saw a black female with short hair get out of the car, go over to the victim lying in the ditch, bend over and look at the victim and drive away at a "high-rate of speed."
Ragsdale confessed to striking the victim with her vehicle. She told police she fled the scene because she was "panicked".
Ragsdale was placed in the Alamance County Jail. She posted $100,000 bond and was released.
