RALEIGH, N.C. — Police say a North Carolina girl was killed when she and another teen ran in front of traffic on a five-lane road after school.

Officials at WakeMed Hospital told multiple media outlets that 14-year-old Lindsey Fesmire died from the injuries she got in Friday's crash.

Hospital officials say the second girl is also 14 years old and was in good condition Saturday.

Investigators say no charges are expected to be filed against the driver, 44-year-old Ronald Blackwell of Wilson.

Police say the girls were leaving a popular after-school hangout across the street and were headed back to Durant Middle School when they were hit.

Raleigh police Lt. P.A. Niemann said the two girls were not in the crosswalk and darted in front of Blackwell's sports utility vehicle.
