Raleigh, NC Car Accident Lawyers

A Hickory man was killed Friday night after he was struck by a car and thrown from his mo-ped at the intersection of N.C. 127 and Cloninger Mill Road.

The collision happened at about 8:50 p.m. as John Nye, 41, was attempting to turn left onto Cloninger Mill Road.

He was struck by a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Kyle Nowak, 26, of Hickory. Nowak was driving north on N.C. 127, according to the accident report.

Nye was ejected from his TMEC mo-ped and was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Crash scene investigators are working to determine the speed of the Altima driven by Nowak, said Sgt. Robert George of the Hickory Police Department.

No charges have been filed in the accident.
