GREENSBORO, N.C. — Authorities say a man has been charged with DWI in a single-vehicle crash that killed a passenger and temporarily shut down Interstate 40 in Greensboro.

Police say Randolph Bell was driving a 2007 Ford Focus early Sunday morning when he lost control of the car and hit the guardrail in the center median.

Police say Melissa Loraine Hoffman of Greensboro was ejected from the car and later died at a hospital.

Police say Bell was cited for DWI and driving with a revoked license.

The case is still under investigation. Westbound I-40 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
