Attorney Adam Smith

Adam Smith has dedicated his career to litigating complicated legal matters, with particular emphasis on fighting for victims of serious personal injuries. Originally from Boston, Adam relocated to North Carolina in 1996 when he received the Garda scholarship to study political science at Duke University. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke, cum laude, in 2000, and was inducted into the Pi Sigma Alpha honor society for achievement in political science. He received the W.B. McGuire scholarship to attend the Duke University School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Journal of Gender Law & Policy and received his Juris Doctor in 2003.

Adam was honored to share in Public Counsel’s 2003 National Volunteer of the Year Award after successfully representing numerous Spanish-speaking plaintiffs in a class-action claim of fraud and negligent misrepresentation against a major corporate defendant. Adam has successfully represented numerous injured workers in claims before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, and litigated matters in North Carolina District and Superior courts across more than 20 counties in North Carolina. He has also represented clients in appellate matters, and his victory in Jarvis v. Stewart, 613 S.E.2d 293, was named one of the 50 Most Important Opinions of 2005 by N.C. Lawyers Weekly.

In his spare time, Adam enjoys playing soccer and coaching his daughter’s YMCA girl’s youth soccer team. He is a lead children’s church teacher at the North Raleigh Church of Christ. He is also active in his other church, Triangle Red Sox Nation.
